Antsy

Things I’m tired of:
Homework
Attending class
Rules
Guidelines
Critiques
No free time
Grades

As usual, spring has me antsy. Or do I mean angsty? Both. Angsty and antsy. That’s a tongue twister. Anyhow, school is getting on my nerves. I want to make a souffle, read one or twenty books, organize a picnic, make a video, dig out the ice cream machine, play in the woods . . .

But no! SCHOOL. School is selfish and doesn’t want me to do anything else with my life. I don’t even have time to read. As a design student, my homework is admittedly more fun than most other majors. But even the fun stuff is starting to grate on me. I love painting flowers and making photo collages, but I just want to do it my way for once. I’m tired of being told that I have to use a certain size of paper, and complete a certain number of thumbnails, use x number of photos in my collage, and work on it at certain times. And I’m especially tired of following that up with critiques and grading rubrics. I just want to make something for the sake of making it, darn it.

Today is Saturday, and all I want to do is read and go on a bike ride. But I have to finish some 3D modeling tutorials, work on some concept boards, and buy a 20 x 20 piece of foam core (which can only be black or white . . . no colors!!!). SIGH. Four more weeks, four more weeks, four more weeks . . .

This has been “Spring Rants” with Lydia. Anybody else have spring fever?
